Midwifery

About Midwifery

Midwifery means “with woman.” At Rooted Women's Wellness & Birth, I am honored to stand alongside you throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. My commitment is to provide you with care that is both personal and tailored to your unique needs.

I pledge to support you with compassion and empathy, offering evidence-based information that allows for informed decision-making at every stage. You will find a loving, nurturing environment where you can feel secure and at ease: truly at home in your own home.

Educating women and families is central to my philosophy, as I believe in empowering you through knowledge and support. Here, you are an individual, not just a statistic, and your midwifery care will be specifically designed to meet the needs of you and your family.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 45-90 Mins.

    > Time to get to know each other

    > Discuss nutrition, water intake, exercise, self-care, and any discomfort or concerns

    > Listen to baby’s heartbeat and measure for adequate growth

    > Record all vitals (Blood pressure, pulse, temperature)

    > Labs and Gestational Diabetes Screening @ 28 weeks

    > Birth plan and labs (including Group Beta Strep Testing) @ 36 weeks

  • I am all yours for however long or short your birthing journey is. I will be in touch over the phone throughout your labor process and we will make a decision together on when it is best to have myself and my team come to you. We will stay at your home for a minimum of 3 hours after the birth and everyone is well. We will make sure breastfeeding has been established, clean after ourselves, offer an herbal bath, make sure you have been fed a solid meal, and throw a load of laundry in the wash before we ever think of walking out your door.

  • You will have four total postpartum visits. I will come to your home for the first visit between 24-48 hrs following the birth and then also at 1 week and 2 weeks. I want you to rest as much as possible! You will come back to the office for your final 6 week postpartum visit. During these visits if any concerns come up such as PPMD, I can assist you from functional blood work to prescriptive needs to help you feel supported during your postpartum journey. I also offer a 6 month well-mama check-up where we can run labs if any concerns arise and visit with you and your baby to see how your postpartum journey is continuing to go!
